Philip Ilson
Interesting quick interview with, and article by Philip Ilson, current curator of the London Film Festival and founder of The Halloween Society Short FIlm Club …
Though no longer hot news, it was this article which initially endeared me to him.

Szél

Based on Les Trois Dames, a photograph by Lucien Hervé, Szél (Wind) is a short film directed by Hungarian director Marcell Iványi that went on to win the Palme d’Or at Canne back in 1996.
While the women of the photograph look off camera at something unspecified, the film concocts a narrative by very slowly revealing what they’re watching. The atmosphere’s immense – opening in benign fashion and growing increasingly unsettling – it’s beautifully paced, very pretentious, and I bloomin’ love it.
The Master
In a year when the phrase “I see __________ has made that film again” (insert ‘Tim Burton’, ‘Wes Anderson’, ‘Ridley Scott’etc)
Paul Thomas Anderson is back and I’m officially sexually excited.
Oooh
Encouraging things appear to be happening.
