Monkey Business

Just had a meeting with Screen South to pitch a feature script that went … surprisingly well!

Surprising in that they actually read it and had some things to say that were really nice, and some that I instinctively winced at, but in retrospect may actually be really interesting. I did go in there pretty wired from unrelated arguments, brimming with cynicism, and in hinesight I could have probably done with reining in the level of ‘startled’ in my reaction to the fact they’d bothered to have a look at it, but other than that I’m chuffed. I did put on my new white shirt, which I’d ironed especially, so I like to think that also had something to do with it.

Unfortunately, it means little in regards to funding at this stage, but some of the concerns I had were quelled, and they were pretty complementary about some other stuff (it’s so bloody hard to be simultaneously candid and secretive!) so all in all it was well worth it.

Now off to meet up with Grant Orchard (who would be heavily involved with the feature idea) so he can show me his new short film ‘A Morning Stroll’ which I’m VERY excited about, and then some pints with friends,

which is nice.

(incidentally the picture above is in no way a reflection on the meeting, it’s from an archive of reference images for the feature script. Working title ‘The Joy of Sex’)

(or ‘Danny’s a Monster’ …. I can’t decide which I dislike least)

(… feel free to let me know your preference)

  1. I think your success may have been down to your crispy white shorts. I’m thinking 118 118 ….
But well done anyway. You must have good legs.
